Montgomery Maxton penned his first poem in 1994 at age 14. In 1996, following the death of his great-grandmother and in the confusion of being a closeted teenage homosexual in rural Ohio, he began writing poetry nearly daily. Following his juvenilia stage, his work began finding publication in various online and print media in the mid-2000s decade. His first collection was published in 2010. This Beautiful Bizarre became an instant underground success and launched Maxton into the American poetry scene. Champagne was released in 2016.
